Work from the service boundary

A fault may sit with the provider, building wiring, cross-connects or the connected device. Access to the demarcation, blocks and affected jacks helps separate those possibilities.

FryAVSI can trace authorized premise-side pairs, review cross-connects, check station wiring and document the results. Provider-owned equipment remains with the provider unless the work is specifically authorized.

• Record the symptom and when it occurs.
• Identify the affected number, extension or device.
• Preserve the existing cross-connect record before changes.
• Agree on a safe interruption window with the system owner.

Before a POTS line is retired

Build a line inventory before cancelling service: number, purpose, connected equipment, location and the party who approves the change. A line that is rarely used may still have an essential purpose.

For ordinary business voice, FryAVSI can coordinate field wiring with the selected provider’s transition plan. The replacement’s power, connectivity and device requirements need review before the old line is removed.

Alarm, elevator, emergency and other regulated lines require their qualified provider’s assessment and approved replacement process. FryAVSI’s current offering does not include fire-alarm or life-safety communicator replacement.

Treat old wiring according to its actual condition

Legacy telephone layouts may use cable or branching arrangements unsuitable for the intended network application. Changing the jack does not establish Ethernet suitability.

We can document the route and endpoints so your team can decide whether to repair, retain or replace the wiring. The closeout identifies the tested point, work performed and any provider or equipment issue still open.
