Build Skills Toward a Certification
Use short lessons to build understanding, practical exercises to test it, and the exam owner’s objectives to plan the rest.
Choose the skill you want to prove
Network+ foundations
Broad networking knowledge. Start with introductory network lessons, then use the small-office advanced course.
FOA CFOT preparation
Fiber knowledge and practical skills. Begin with the optical link, then study loss and supervised practice.
UniFi training preparation
Product-specific networking. Learn the roles first, then plan networks, Wi-Fi, VLANs and adoption.
FryAVSI provides independent study material. The relevant organizations administer their exams, official courses and certifications. Our short quizzes check understanding; they do not award a professional credential.
CompTIA Network+ study map
Current reference checked September 9, 2026: N10-009 / V9. Use the introductory classes before the advanced network course.
| Official domain | Practice here | Continue your exam study |
|---|---|---|
| Networking concepts | Equipment roles, layers and protocols, IPv4 addressing | Work through the full objective list, including cloud models, additional media/topologies and emerging network approaches. |
| Network implementation | VLANs, Wi-Fi, copper installation | Add full routing-protocol, redundancy, spanning-tree and wireless configuration practice. |
| Network operations | Maintenance and records, recovery planning | Extend into monitoring tools, IPv6 services, management access and recovery metrics. |
| Network security | Access-policy lab, administration habits | Study the complete identity, attack/defense, cryptography and policy objectives. |
| Network troubleshooting | Symptom comparisons, adoption, physical evidence | Practice unfamiliar timed scenarios, commands and performance-based tasks across the entire syllabus. |
CompTIA’s current Network+ page is the authority for the full exam objectives and requirements. Review every objective and use suitable lab and exam practice before booking.
FOA CFOT: knowledge plus practical skill
- Identify a complete optical link.
- Understand an outage investigation.
- Work loss calculations and test interpretation.
- Complete supervised hands-on practice with a reviewed record.
FOA requires knowledge and demonstrated skills or qualifying experience. These pages introduce selected topics; use FOA’s full study program and approved training or applicable experience route to address its installation, splicing, termination and testing requirements.
Read FOA’s CFOT requirements and training routes. Its page also links to Fiber U self-study and skills preparation.
Prepare for official UniFi training
Follow the equipment-role lesson, network planning, Wi-Fi placement, segmentation and adoption troubleshooting. Then complete the small-office lab.
Use Ubiquiti’s official training calendar and certification information to choose the current course and authorized trainer. FryAVSI lessons support preparation and are not an authorized Ubiquiti certification course.
Build a practical security foundation
Use the network-security and MSP path to practice identity, segmentation, policy enforcement and operations. Use the physical-security path for camera, credential and acceptance examples.
These exercises extend the library’s security foundations. They are selected practical topics, not a complete security certification syllabus or a claim of certification. Compare the exam owner’s current objectives with your study and supervised practice.
Know when to move on
- Explain it: describe the idea without reading the answer.
- Use it: solve a different example or perform the appropriate supervised task.
- Prove it: show the configuration, measurements or decisions supporting the result.
- Find the next gap: mark the official objectives that still need study or practice.
Keep a simple personal log: topic, exercise, evidence, what was difficult and the next practice. Revisit weak areas before taking a broader practice assessment.
